The Dental Coaching Process

The Coaching Process

As a Professional Coach I have a unique style and special flavor that I bring to the Coaching relationship.  I want to share mine with you.  I want to give you a sense of who I will be in our relationship, what I expect from you, and what you can expect of me.

YOU ARE THE FOCUS
As much as clients like working with me in order to achieve their goals faster, I focus much of my attention on YOU, not just your goals.  I am goal-oriented myself, so I understand the excitement of making progress and achievement.  However, I also know the value of strengthening oneself during the process.  I want to make sure that it is okay with you that we focus on you as much as we focus on your goals.

AVAILABILITY
Our sessions are for 50-55 minutes, twice each month.  I am available in between session by e-mail, fax or quick 5-10 minute "pick me up" calls to go over a challenge, share a success or are starting to realize something big.

ABOUT THE SESSION
Fifty-five minutes may not seem like enough time to get some real work done, yet it is plenty of time as you will discover.  It is very beneficial if you bring several questions, problems or situations to our session, so that YOU are driving the session.  If you get stuck, or are not sure what to discuss, I’ll be happy to suggest several things.  There is always something to improve or to achieve and there is always a way to evolve yourself, even during a thirty minute session.  I provide a simple form to use for each call.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Our sessions are completely private and confidential.  What you say goes no further than my ears.  Often, clients want to say something private about themselves or share what they most want in life.  Our sessions are between you and me, always.

I MAKE DIRECT REQUESTS
Routinely, I’ll make a direct request, like "Will you accomplish X by the end of the month?"  You may accept the request, counter-offer (like say what you can do) or decline (rare).  I’ll make it okay whichever way you respond.

I GIVE STRAIGHT ADVISE
If I am sure of the situation, and you’re open to it, I’ll make specific suggestions on how to handle a problem or "go for" an opportunity.  If I’m not sure, I’ll say so.  Honesty is one of my values—I am straight and expect the same from you.  Regardless, "take" the best of what I say and use your own judgment.

There is more to discuss, yet this will give you an insight to what my clients tell me is an incredibly personal long-term relationship.
