Where do all the “nut cases” come from?

20 February 2007

One of my clients called today rather upset as one of her recent hires who seemed very happy to be with the team; excited about learning the new software; communicated well with her team mates; and even came in on her time off to become more integrated with the practice………..decided to leave the practice abruptly, with no notice and “passed on” to the doctor that she decided to take a position at the hospital.  I hear this type of story or ones similar to this more and more and more.  What the hell is with people who don’t have the common courtesy to behave with respect and values.  If the doctor had been a “schmuck” then I might be able to understand.  However, this kind of behavior is autrocious and more evidence that taking the time to HIRE RIGHT and retain “good” talent is more critical today in the dental office than ever.  All too often these kinds of crappy hires end up like this, causing turmoil and upset because we were in too much of a hurry to hire a “body.”
