Christmas Bonus’s Should Be Mandatory

17 December 2006

After I made last weeks post about Christmas Bonus’s I received several ananomous communications from staff.  It seems many of them did not want their doctors to know how they really felt.  The majority of the comments stated (I paraphrase)“for the crappy pay and lousy attitudes in our office, the doctor damn-well better be paying out a Christmas Bonus if he/she expects to keep the staff.”  If the truth be known, I was surprised at how strongly the views were held by so many.  You may want to visit this site where it describes “aquinaldo” where employers in Mexico are required by law to give employees a Christmas Bonus.  What’s your comment?

One Response to “Christmas Bonus’s Should Be Mandatory”

  1. Fenderson Says:

If a government mandate came down that I have to give a
Christmas bonus then I would probably be in jail.
I do nice things for my reason not the governments.
To keep out of jail I guess I would not give a raise and then give the minimum Christmas bonus to keep the government off my back.
When I hear “have to” I think loss of freedom as a business man. My ire is elevated when the government interfers with my business in any way. For the attitude of “I deserve it and the boss damn well better give x-mas bonus” I say bad relations with employees. Boss and employees need to talk. What if the cash flow is not there? What if the Boss is Buddist or an aetheist and says bah humbug to this season. Worst thing that could happen after loosing his employees is to be visited by three
    ghosts.
