Quite often, I have discovered that some employers feel their signature on a paycheck is the only thing necessary to make an employee happy. They may even feel they are doing their team a “favor” by employing them.

When this attitude permeates throughout the office, morale goes down and employees become frustrated and resentful. That is when they begin feeling their boss “owes them” even more….

While developing an awesome team that loves to come to work and represent our doctor, I have discovered it is the employer who is “lucky” when they find an exceptional team member. When they are fortunate to find someone of high caliber, they need to be grateful and show their appreciation so that team member doesn’t “re-locate”.

We’ve heard it drilled to us at CE courses that employees just want to be appreciated. It may sound ridiculous and we may tend to disregard this advice. But it is true……actions speak louder than words or $$$$!

My advice is for this dentist to discover who his exemplar team members are and to do everything in his/her power to let that employee know their value to the practice and show your appreciation for a job well done!

Tracy, how can we “clone” your positive attitude and wise counsel?
