Dr. Ron’s BLOG Challenge

One of the many reasons I believe the upset dentists have in running their dental offices is that they neglect to develop two very critical documents: first is their Core Values and the second is their Vision Statement. Oh, I’ve heard dentists say that this is a bunch of crap and like goals, they have it in their heads and know what it is. When I ask them: “what would your staff say if I asked them to list them for me?” Different story! The doctor looks like a deer in headlights…..because he/she knows the staff would have no idea! That’s because the doctor has no idea. My question is how can a CEO lead their company with no values and a compass? What’s your thoughts on this challenge? C’mon, I want to rattle your gage.

   Well said! That gap between core values and the reality of how we operate our business is not nearly so invisible as it can seem to us. Worst luck!

   Lindy, sounds like you have some experience with the concept of Core Values? Almost unheard of in our profession and yet a breath of fresh air. I discover that my clients who “use” their core values in the day-to-day operation of their practice are the ones that have more success and greater harmony with the team.
