Dr. Ron’s Pudge Watch

13 February 2008

I’m embarrassed and disappointed to report that my absence in reporting the PUDGE has been a challenge for me.  It has been nearly 2 1/2 months since my last report and I must be truthful……..I have not made the progress I had hoped.  I know Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, however the problem is there is still too much of me to love.  I have succumbed to the temptations of “cheating” on my weight loss; change of life program.  While I began at 199.6 pounds and have dropped to as low as 180, I now hover at 183.  While not terrible, certainly not where I had expected to be at this time.  So, as part of this process, I am declaring publicly that I must move my goal date of August 2008 to weigh 165 pounds, I need to modify that to either a date further out or a different weight.  In my next post I will make that declaration.

However, before my next week post I would appreciate any ideas; suggestions; tips you can share with me on how you have overcome these temptations (aside from de-cluttering the pantry of not such good food), I would be grateful.  So please use the comment link below to share your wisdom and help me overcome my weakness to stray from my plan.  I’ll share your brilliance with my readers.  Remember, “no one is as smart as all of us.”

Don’t be disappointed, this is just a bump in your road but; (here’s the but) Quit making excuses and figure out why you are not on the treadmill every night or morning! Get your butt off the couch and pick up those weights, your heart needs that exercise!!! You know you can do it and your family needs you to do it along with your clients! We expect your success as you expect us to succeed every day. So stop with the whining and start down your new path of success. Don’t fight it, today is a new day!!! Love ya! Jul

Accept the fact that you are really human and do the best you can on your weight loss program, please do obcess with this. The best way is to lock yourself in the closet, but then you have to handle the issue of coming out of the closet. I still have a sense of humor Fred

Brother Ron, sorry to hear that you have to change the due date for your weight loss. Remember we go to the auto show on the 23rd of this month and we will be stopping for lunch and the great food that you and Bree get will sure add a pound for you. I think I will get the same too.

“Being skinny tastes better than anything else in the world”

So next time you are getting ready to shove that piece of chocolate in your hole, just think about your 19 yr old picture.

Hey, Ron. My strategy has always been to try to approach every meal already feeling partially “full.” For years I’ve been doing things like I drink 12 oz of water about 10-20 mins prior to a meal, and I end up eating less. About a month ago I read another great tip, which I’ve been using and it works really well — eat a small apple or pear BEFORE dinner (I just cut up a big apple and Cheryl and I split it). Those two fruits contain a lot of fiber, and so reduce appetite plus rev up the old metabolism to digest whatever else shows up.

I’m rootin’ for ya, my friend! J
