Annual Goal Planning

I’ve got some amazing; productive; brilliant; and talented clients that I get to serve.  However, only 25% of them have done or have arranged to hold an annual goal planning meeting with their team by the endo of 2007.  Astounding!  That scares me because what happens to the other 75%? 

• How will they know where they are going? 
• How will they know when they get there? 
• What are the top priorities for 2008?
• What will make them distinctive from their competitors?
• How will they know if they are on track?
• How will their team members know what to do and their expectations?

I have received a few communications that my “goal planning” stuff is either too much work, particularly when they are doing so well;  I had another tell me she has all her goals in her head (what a knuclehead) and knows exactly where she is headed; and I had one who said: “oh, I’m afraid my staff won’t buy into this planning idea”.  Whew…..there is nothing I can do to help these folks.  However, I do have two different downloads you might want to print off to help you with your planning.  One is compliments of a client, Dr. Chris Ruszkowski on Taking Back Control when he had staff challenging his direction (this guy is brilliant) and the other is My Goals.  Click on each of the blue links above.  Just another set of tools to help you NOT be one of those 75%.  Next month I will shift from our business planning to personal planning for 2008.  That will really get you thinking.
