Dr. Ron’s PUDGE WATCH

1 November 2007

WOW!!!!  I didn’t realize my “fat” toosh would attract so much attention.  I have been begging people to BLOG me for the past year.  I have posted interesting topics and downloads…even controversial subjects, but I’ve had no luck in getting many blog posts until I announced my PUDGE WATCH.  I had more interest in my life-style change than anything I have posted.  Perhaps there are others in my same predicament?  Perhaps you are getting a kick out of making fun of “little Buddha” (that’s a nickname given to me by a friend)?  Or perhaps you want to encourage me?  It makes no difference, I’m simply glad you are “connecting” with me.  Take the time to read some of the comments made by others as they are insightful and some are funny (good thing I have a sense of humor).

I am presenting my progress since my last post nearly 10 days ago along with some ideas and tips I’m learning along the way.  I am setting up my chronology from the beginning weight to my most current progress.  In order to follow along, you will need to open the document and read from the top and then scroll down.  If you are new, begin at the beginning.  If you are returning, scroll down to the most recent post.  Enjoy and remenber……………..this is a BLOG and I want you to post your comments on my site.  Ideas; tips that work for you; encouragement; recipes; stories of your success; words of wisdom……..talk to me.

Wow did I get to laugh tonight! As I read your blog, Shelbie was looking over my shoulder, reading along. As she saw your pictures, she said, “Oh, he scares me!” Then as I clicked to see your progress, (congrats by the way!) she saw your picture when you were 17 and replied, “Oh, he’s cute! Why couldn’t he stay that way until I was 17? I could have married him.” But then saw your other picture and said, “But now he looks like a man pouch!” Sorry to laugh at your expense, but she was too cute. By the way, you are still cute!!! Love ya, Sheri (third fav. daughter)

It’s great to hear you’re committed to weight loss and physical fitness! As someone who has lost 40 pounds (and have a husband who lost 80 pounds) on a controlled carbohydrate lifestyle and have both kept that weight off effortlessly for the nearly 5 years now, you gotta know I am going to recommend that you read the great new book by Gary Taubes, “Good Calories, Bad Calories” Gary is an award winning science writer who has done 5 years of research on the subject of what really makes us fat. It is a detailed account of how we have gotten to where we are, why there is an epidemic of diabetes and obesity in this country. And no, I do not have any financial interest in Gary Taubes except that this is an exceptionally well written and well researched book. Dr. Andrew Weil expressed his congratulations to Mr. Taubes saying that this book should be read by every physician and intern in the country - it will turn nutrition on its ear.
Good Luck, Dr. Ron. Don’t forget to get the book - it makes for good reading on the tread mill. :) All my best, Mary

In response to young Shelbie, daughter of Sheri…….let her know that this ol’ guy is working hard to get rid of the “man pouch” and hopefully in the not to distant future I won’t look so scary…..Dr. Ron
