What does California Closets and Great Service Have in Common?

22 September 2007

NOTHING!  How do you feel if a restaurant doesn’t get your order right?  What if a sales clerk at a department store is rude to you?  How would you respond to spending an hour and a half with a closet design company franchise owner, at your home, describing your needs & wants because you are eager to get started (spend mony) on an expensive project and then he never gets back with you and ignores  your multiple calls and emails for his estimate so you can begin the project?  That’s what I got from Mr. Juan Antunez at the Cleveland office of California Closets.  How much business would you want to do with this individual?  What kind of comments would you share with others?  What impact would behavior such as this have on a small business like yours and mine?  As a dental coach my clients and I spend a lot of time discussing what they can be doing to make their practice “remarkable”.  I heard a similar story from one of my neighbors recently who called a dental office to arrange a consultation for implants as she was eager, willing, and financially prepared to proceed with treatment.  Like my California Closet story, the doctor nor his office administrator failed to follow up with this interested patient.  Guess what kind of comments this neighbor has shared with her friends………and me because she knows I’m a dentist.  She was less than complimentary about Dr. I-Don’t-Care.  He not only lost an immediate sale, he has lost BIG TIME.  This is simply a reminder that you might want to inspect how you are handling your business requests; new patient inquiries; current patient issues; or general communications. Most of us have similar responses to poor service………we take our business and money elsewhere.  We vote with our feet……..as I will do with California Closets.  You see, the VOICE OF THE NICE CUSTOMER (click on this link) is very important to pay attention to when making your practice “unique”.  Many take this for granted…remarkable practices do not.
