Antidote to Change AND Low Case Acceptance

18 September 2007

Last week I was coaching one of my clients around his frustration with his low case acceptance. He said: “Times are tough.  I just don’t know what’s happening, my patients are just not buying my treatment recommendations.” I suggested that if what he is doing is not working then he would be wise to do something differently. He said, “like what?” I suggested it could be a myriad of things causing his patients not to accept his recommendations………things like: not clarifying to the patient what is in their best interest; failure to check in with them to determine if this type of treatment is what they really want; perhaps coming across to the patient as too “pushy” or too “mushy”; or HIS treatment presentation technique needs serious work and retraining; or the team is not on board with financial options or explaining things well with the patient when they are at the front desk. His response…………”Oh, we’re doing all of those things well and furthermore, my staff won’t be happy with changing any of them for certain!” My response: IYCTDWYADYWCTGWYAG….If You Continue To Do What You’ve Always Done You Will Continue To Get What You’ve Always GotI emailed him this document and we began some serious coaching around “shifting” his mindset.  Might this be something you and I devote some coaching time to in the coming weeks?
