Dental Hygiene Appreciation Day

11 June 2007

On a recent coaching call, one of my incredibly brilliant clients, Dr. James Stafford explained to me how he took the concept of “team recognition” directly to his hygienists.  We all know there is a Professional Administrative Day; there is a Dental Assistant Day; yet there is no recognition day directed to hygienists.  Not a problem for Dr. Stafford.  He spontaneously recognized and declared a Hygiene Appreciation Dayin his office.  In addition to announcing the day to his patients and staff, he took his hygienists out to eat; sent them flowers; presented them with a complimentary note; and acknowledged them publically.  Guess what the response was from his team?  Guess how much turnover this doctor has?  He is constantly looking for ways to create “team” in his office.  If you want to know more, visit his “kool” website and see his team.  Feel free to contact him via email personally for more details: jsta@charter.netHere is a question:  What are you doing to retain and empower your team members?  What have you said or done to make them feel special over the past week?
